About the company ...

The Company is a leading bespoke tailor of Savile Row, London founded in 1865 as J. Dege & Sons. Both the Dege and Skinner families were prominent in the tailoring trade from this period formally joining forces in 1916 when one of the Skinner boys, William Jnr., joined the firm.

More recently the company changed its trading name to DEGE & SKINNER when the Skinner family acquired full ownership. The occasion was marked by a reception attended by their Guest of Honour Mr Colin Montgomerie, MBE.

Colin Montgomerie unveiling the new name plaque with William Skinner and Michael Skinner, Chairman  Michael Skinner, Chairman made the announcement: "This marks an important stage in the company's plans to increase our activities world-wide as we move into the new millennium, and reflects our faith for a healthy future for bespoke tailoring in Savile Row."

William Skinner, Managing Director invited Colin Montgomerie to unveil the new name plaque: "Your support for our products in greatly welcomed and is a clear indication of the continuing interest in and demand for quality hand-made tailoring and shirtmaking in today's world of business and sport."

By Appointment to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
In 1984 the company was honoured with a Royal Warrant of Appointment to HM The Queen in recognition of many years' work for the Lord Chamberlain's Office culminating in the quincentennial of the Queen's Body Guard, the Yeoman of the Guard in 1985, making new uniforms for the Officers.

Throughout the year since 1967, the company has won contracts from HM Government for the manufacture of Royal Horse Artillery Dress Jackets, Pantaloons and ceremonial tunics for officers of the Household Cavalry and the Brigade of Guards.

By Appointment to His Majesty the Sultan of Oman
Since the Chairman's first visit in 1971 uniforms have played a prominent part of the company's work in Oman; many of the country's majestic ceremonial uniforms are designed and made in the company's workshops. In 1981, in recognition of the work carried out the company was awarded the Royal Warrant of Appointment to HM The Sultan.

By Appointment to His Majesty the King of Bahrain
The company has been supplying the Royal Household of Bahrain for over twenty years with civilian and military clothes. Dege & Skinner have the honour to receive this year the Royal Warrant of Appointment to HM the King Hamad of Bahrain.

The company's experience in the Gulf States also extends to supply contracts to Saudi Arabia and to Abu Dhabi.
